ACKROYD, Norman

Norman Ackroyd.
British 1938-
Printmaker, painter and teacher. Born in Leeds, Yorkshire. Studied at Leeds College of Art and The Royal College of Art (1961-4). He has taught printmaking at Manchester College of Art and Design, Winchester College, Central School of Art, and acted as visiting lecturer in Britain and abroad. He has exhibited regularly and won a number of awards including those at the Bradford International Print Biennale in 1972 and 1982; at the Royal Society of Etchers in 1984 and 1985; at the Frechen Triennale in Germany in 1986. In 1989 he was elected ARA. Ackroyd has had many shows including Anderson O’Day, London; Aitken Dott, Edinburgh, Jersey Arts Centre, Channel Islands; Compass Gallery, Glasgow and has his work in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
