DODD, Francis.
FRANCIS DODD British, 1874-1949
Painter and printmaker, born at Holyhead, Anglesey. Dodd studied painting at Glasgow School of Art. He won the Haldene Scholarship in 1893 and travelled around France, Italy and later Spain. He lived in Manchester (1895-1905) moving later to Blackheath, South East London. Dodd became an official war artist during the First World War and was a trustee of the Tate Gallery(1928-35).His work is held is in a number of British collections including the Tate Gallery, in South Africa and Australia.
