Lucy Jones
British (b1955-)

Painter and Teacher born and lived in London. She studied at the Byam Shaw School of Drawing and Painting; Camberwell School of Art and Craft, 1977-79; and the Royal College of Art, 19709-1982. A Rome Scholarship in painting taking her to British School of Painting in Rome 1982-84. By then she had begun to collect a number of awards and prizes, including the Cubitt Award for `painting, 1980, Anstruther Award for Painting, 1982; Oppenheim-John Downes Memorial Trust, 1986, and RA Summer Exhibition Daler-Rowney Award for the best work in oil, 1989. In 1984 she begun teaching at Ruskin School, Oxford and West Surrey College of Art and Design, Farnham, further teaching posts include Chelsea Art College and Design, 1984-91. Jones overcame the problems of cerebral palsy to pint her disarming self-portraits and views of London, with an exuberance in Britain and abroad and had solo shows at Angela Flowers Gallery and flowers east, Arts Council, Museum of Modern Art in New York and other public collections hold her work.
